Adopted cat brings happiness to the family after the loss

Chow Chow
"There is no doubt that Chow Chow is a loving, outgoing, calm demeanor, and a sign of a bright light in a dark and sad time for Dad and our family."
"Mom needs a hospice cat." Although it was my father who said I knew he was the one who needed a hospice cat, my mother had been battling rare cancer called leiomyosarcoma for seven and a half years, and her time on earth was fast approaching. Not only was my father losing his wife of 45 years, but my parents' last cat also died at the age of 19. This will be the first time my father has never had a cat in his life, and he will have to live alone in his house.
I knew he needed a partner to bring him joy and happiness in life immediately. After the calamity of our mother's death, it is necessary to keep him motivated for life. As a second chance pet volunteer, I suggested that he adopt a calm, 1-year-old female cat, who had been rescued recently from a large animal shelter. Her skin was completely faded, and half of her hair was missing due to flea allergies. My father jumped at the chance to raise her.
"Chow Chow " immediately affected. She influences everyone, cleaners, doctors, nurses, friends, and acquaintances all. A therapist and nurse who has never been a cat person before wanted to know where she could adopt a cool cat like Chow Chow. Dad’s only (joking and loving) complaint about her was that she never understand the words "no" and "move."
In my mother's last weeks and days, Chow Chow hardly left my father’s side. She often forced him to share a little love seat sofa with her so that they could all sleep in the room with my mother. The family photo was the last photo my dad ever took with Mom to celebrate her official adoption with Mom, Dad, and Chow Chow as my Mom had died a few weeks later.

- Breed: Ragdoll
The Perfect Pair

Jenny and her husband found their ideal match.
"My husband and I went to Bide a Wee (where I went for my childhood cats) for two male cats from the same litter. We had already chosen their names - Naymo & Jack, so we knew we wanted a brother. First, we went to the newborn kitten's room and played with the little kittens for a while. Then we realized we didn't have much time at home during the week to raise the baby kitten. After that, we went to the older kitten room (3+ months old), and Naymo & Jack looked grumpy and lonely there. They told us they were both brothers of the same litter, and best of all, the fact Naymo looked like my husband's childhood cat, and Jack looked like me, and we left with them that day!"
Taking Naymo & Jack home:"It turned out that Naymo was a girl (you think they would know that in that shelter, but I think they wanted to impose the little scamps off on us), so we named her Naomi." She jumped from the carrier and go into the crack between the kitchen and living room, where we could not find her, and she is out of our reach. We try our best, but all in vain. After that, my husband got an idea; he opens the cat food can and put in front of the fan and blow air in the opposite direction. Nearly after two min, she came out, and we pick her up. We fill that crack immediately. But the fact is we didn't sleep that night: The cats jumped and play with each other and us. We are also eager and excited about this new journey, which begins recently. They were best friends and still are. They have some epic cuddles that we are not always invited to.

- Names: Suzi
- Age: 8 Years Old
- Breed: Tortoiseshell
Suzi Passed the Test

Suzi
Helena knew she was in the presence of royalty when she found her Suzi.
"The adoption center had many cats that had been rescued from a laboratory and used for animal testing. Suzi, or Suzen as she was called at the time, stared at me with sparkling eyes, came straight up, and put her beautiful furry paws on the glass with the hope of freedom. This happened quickly, and at that time, I was being told that she was unfriendly and difficult to treat and had swatted people who try to pick her from her cage. I opened her cage on my own, and Suzi came straight up to me. I cuddled her and petted her. It was clear to all the people at the rescue center that she was the one suited for me and picked me.
Taking Suzi Home:"She meowed the whole ride from shelter to the house, but then once she entered the house, she sniffed well and started walking from room to room. She was very amused by the stairs and moved her upper half a few steps up before moving her bottom half. She was so happy when she made it to the top.
The very first toy I gave her was a bear that had fur and a bell. She loves to play with it and carry it about the house. She learned everything very quickly, and she is very good at seeking attention. Two years later, and she still loves her bear, and that is her favorite toy."

- Names: Beckham
- Age: 3 Years Old
- Breed: Maine Coon
The adopted cat is the companion one busy doctor needed the most

Beckham
"Ultimately, we all sometimes need a little furry friend to warm our hearts in a difficult world."
During the summer of 2017, I was thrilled to graduate from medical school and moved to New York City to begin my residency. I moved into my first residence, bought my first set of IKEA furniture, and had no idea what the future would hold.
While learning to care for real patients, I learned that living in a state of nine million people can still feel lonely. When I came home at night, tired of hospitals' rapid movement, the apartment felt heavy, empty, and quiet. My family never had pets, but I always wanted a cat. I searched for local shelters, and the Evangelical Cat Rescue caught my eye as it rescued a volunteer cat from nearby Petco. I had formerly volunteered at a Petco-based cat shelter, but I did not adopt any cat at the time. It felt like the whole circle was coming.
I met Beckham, the mother of a five kitten, a young cat, who was found wandering the Queen area's streets. All her kittens were adopted already, and she was the last to be rescued. He found a way to go home with me.
Of course, Beckham was hiding in the bathtub for the first three days at home. But the little cat quickly made his way to my bed and has not been bothered since. In the never-ending week in the winter months, Beckham shared his sleep schedule with me. We slept with each other at night or in daylight. After a hard day in the hospital, I would bury my face in her soft skin and listen to her heartbeat, so happy that life is still around me.
The disease disrupts the normal light in human lives. Families often gather around the patient's bed and watch photos and souvenirs to remind them of all the life outside the hospital. Since Beckham's arrival, I've been asking questions about people's pets, their cute faces showing up at bedside, and on the phone. The patient's eyes light up when I mention that I have a cat too, and they share their pet worries and mischief for a quick laugh. At this time, it is an honor to have a normal conversation. Patients are more than their illnesses, and doctors are more than their white coats and cold fingers (sorry). We all need a little purring furball to warm our hearts in the sometimes difficult world.
Our pets show us their love for their actions, including kindness, help, companionship, and happiness. I will never forget the scene when I first adopted Beckham, and the foster volunteer told me, "Be very careful. You will become the whole world of it. It felt like a huge and heavy responsibility. I didn't know that I could take care of this little cat at that time. Now I know.
Thank you for coming into my life.

Love at first sight

Lura
The moment Luna G saw Lura, she knew she was the one.
"It was the last week before Christmas, and even though I got to the humane society about 20 minutes after they opened, there was already a two-hour wait! And if you left (even for water or emergency), you lost your place in line, so I stayed. Lura, or Sophia as her original name was, was the last cat I looked at. In a humane society, you can only look at a few because they have so many cats. The first two weren't a good match for me, but then I saw Lura, and I knew it was a match made for me in kitty heaven."
Taking Lura Home"The first day I brought Lura home, she didn't weep at all once we got home or on the car ride home. She was super interested and wanted to explore everything. Since I already had another kitty at home, I tried to keep Lura isolated in the bedroom, but she had her own will! As soon as my father opened the bedroom door, she went dashing out! She went right up to Litta, my other cat, and sniffed her thoroughly. There was some swatting and hissing the first few hours, but by the end of the day, they were kitty friends/sisters."

I pick You Tez

Tez
After he strayed from home for a long time, William Borris found Tez, and he made sure he knew that he chose her to be his cat father.
"I found him after he had wandered far away from his litter. I searched all the areas for other kittens or signs for the Mom, and there were none. I determined to take him in after he grabbed my leg and sat on my shoulder purring. He picked me so hard that I couldn't say no."
Taking Tez Home"After I brought Tez home, I cut him loose in my room to get used to his new surroundings. As soon as he touched the Persian carpet, he moved around in circles like the Tasmanian Devil. At that time, he was given the name Tez immediately."

- Names: Jasmine and Bella

Bonded for life

Jasmine and Bella
One soft-hearted cat owner's world was flipped when she saw Jasmine and Bella on Random Street Cat's Insta page.
"The organization Random Street Cat's in Washington DC helps independent rescuers find homes for their rescues(especially cats and dogs). These kittens, super bonded lovely sisters, were found on a remote beach when they were just one month old. They (and the rest of their fellows) were pretty sick and dehydrated, so they had a hard time being adopted out. We went to meet them in April, and they were sweet as can be and so attached in no time, so we bring them home just a week later."
Taking Jasmine and Bella Home:"For the first 14 hours, the kittens hid in a five-inch gap under our kitchen's vanity. We check on them every hour to make sure they were ok, but it was clear that they weren't ready to be social yet. The next day, when we checked on them, we noticed that only one kitten was under the sink. Her sister was missing. Finally, we realized that our kitchen vanity has a small hole at the point where the sink pipe comes out, and we don't know how but the cat climbs up in there and go into the vanity drawer. When she finally comes out after a few hours, we sealed the bottom of the kitchen's vanity with duct tape to make sure she'd never get back in there!"

Jewel the Sewer Cat in South Korea

Veisle
Jewel was stuck and living in a sewer for three months. While apartment inhabitants would feed the cat, they had no way of getting Jewel out as the sewer opening was only 4-5 cm long.
With the help of special crew members and the apartment residents, Jewel was finally rescued. She was lured away from the thin sewers towards the manhole, where her new owner was waiting for her.
Now adopted with the name Veisle, Veisle lives happily with the apartment resident who had fed her for three months. She now gets lots of toys, kisses, treats, and a warm home to live in. We're so happy for you, Veisle!

Adopted kittens save their mother's life

Nuno
"Nuno saved my life twice when my sugar level dropped to dangerously low, and I was unable to wake myself up."
In November 2018, I was diagnosed with autoimmune disease. My own body attacks and kills cells in my pancreas, which is now unable to produce insulin. Also called Type 1 Diabetes, this diagnosis means I must take insulin for the rest of my life and deal with my blood sugar daily, or I may die.
Five months ago, I saw a friend's Twitter post showing her kittens she was raising for Austin Pets Alive. When I saw this post, I wasn't looking to adopt another cat, but someone told me I needed a little Nuno in my life.
From the moment I saw him, I immediately decide to pet him. So I call my friend and told him that I am in love with Nuno. He agrees and gives me Nuno. When he was only eight weeks old, we brought him home. Nuno quickly became my mother's son and had to stay with me forever. And then, something unexpected happened. Within a month of arriving at our house, he started warning my husband and me at night when my blood sugar was dropping too low (which could be fatal). He cries and licks my lips, ears, and nose vigorously until I wake up.
Nuno had saved my life twice when my level had dropped dangerously low, and I was unable to wake myself up. He went and woke up my husband, who at the time was able to give me medicine to bring my blood sugar normal. Nuno is always there for me when I recover from a very low or high blood sugar experience. He lets me hug him and cuddle him as long as I need to. Merck is a gray-haired angel of God, and I don't know what I would do without him.
